Foreign Minister: No clue when Election Law could change

N1

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister told N1 that he does not know when the situation with the Election Law could be resolved, after the Constitutional Court deleted several articles from the Election Law, two years ago, due to unequal representation of constituent peoples in the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I have no idea when the situation concerning the Election Law could be resolved. I know that Bosnia is behind the developed democracies in many aspects but we always have a regular election with a successful implementation of election results,” Crnadak said.

When it comes to the election of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency members, he said the situation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity is so confusing that he dared not comment on that, however, when it comes to the situation with the election of a Presidency member from the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, he said he was certain that the Alliance for Change coalition's candidate MladenIvanic would win again.

Commenting on the election for the President of the RS, he said Vukota Govedarica from the Serb Democratic Party, a member of the Alliance for Change coalition would win.

He was asked to comment on the migrant crisis in Bosnia, to which he said that all state institutions are involved in this situation as well as all institutions from both entities.

“I wouldn’t dramatize the situation like some others are trying to do. The situation is neither alarming nor is it a great crisis. All institutions are involved and if we cooperate, it will not escalate,” Crnadak said.

Crnadak also commented on the announced visit of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Bosnia saying that tensions have been made concerning his visit, but that he could only comment on the official information about the event.

The Turkish President is coming to an event organized by a non-governmental organization. It was planned that he would receive an honorary Ph.D at a university here in Bosnia. Whether he would meet with the Presidency members of Bosnia and Herzegovina or not, that I don't know,” Crnadak concluded.
