The removal of a tent settlement from a city park in Velika Kladusa began today, with the assistance of the local police and supervision of the ambulance service.

The Head of Velika Kladusa Municipality Fikret Abdic made a decision to remove the migrants away from the city centre into the suburbs, onto the land owned by the Velika Kladusa Municipality. The migrants will be provided with water, sanitation and electricity, and will have adequate ground for raising their tents.

As reported by an N1 reporter, there are currently around 120 migrants in the tent area, and some estimates indicate that there are between 600 and 700 migrants in the area of Velika Kladusa.

“Despite the great uncertainty and silence about the migration crisis, we did what the state did not do, even though it is not our duty to do so. All the institutions have failed. Sarajevo keeps sending us only problems, without any solutions,” Fikret Abdic said. “Velika Kladusa Municipality used its own budget funds to fund all these operations and to purchase the necessary means to create the conditions for the stay of these migrants, but all future activities will require the assistance from the competent national and international organizations.”
