Analyst: SDA ready to sacrifice Presidency seat

N1

Analyst Ivana Maric spoke to N1 and said that the Democratic Action Party’s (SDA) Saturday Convention is an attempt at democratization of the party. The Social Democratic Party’s ‘one man, one vote’ principle is not just a farce and the Alliance for Better Future’s (SBB) Leader Fahrudin Radoncic will probably not be a Presidency candidate.

“With this convention, the party wants to present itself as a party willing to democratize itself. The party Leader Bakir Izetbegovic managed to find a candidate for the state Presidency that is close to him and someone who will not threaten his position during the next party election”, Maric said.

Due to party’s poor leadership in the Government, the SDA certainly counts on the loss of some support from the citizens and the citizens will definitely punish this at the October election, she said.

She told N1's Alma Dautbegovic-Voloder that the SDA’s main candidate for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite Presidency Sefik Dzaferovic is someone who is very loyal to the Izetbegovic family, but he does not have a great chance of winning the election, and this will be probably the second time that the SDA has no representative in the Bosnian Presidency. The SDA is ready to sacrifice a seat in the Presidency just so Bakir Izetbegovic's position would be secured as the party's Leader,” said Maric.

Commenting on the SDP's policy, she said that they remained faithful to the ‘one man, one vote’ principle which is no farce because the inter-party referendum which was held two days ago and the results of which will be announced during Sunday party Convention, is not something any party could take lightly. Their Presidency candidate Denis Becirovic is someone who has won the largest number of votes in the SDP, so it is only logical that he be a candidate.

According to Ivana Maric, SBB’s Leader Fahrudin Radoncic will definitely not be a Presidency candidate because he has very bad ratings in opinion polls.
