Democratic Front party Leader and Bosnia’s Presidency candidate Zeljko Komsic called on the Law on Constituencies be submitted to parliamentary procedure ore urgently, following Croat lawmaker Bozo Ljubic’s claims that the law would lead to the breakup of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Considering that Bozo Ljubic is threatening with the breakup of Bosnia in the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia, should the Law on Constituencies and Number of Mandates be adopted in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity’s House of Peoples, I suggest that the law be submitted to further parliamentary procedure more urgently,” Komsic said and added that all the parties but the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) and the Croat Democratic Union 1990 (HDZ 1990) voted for the said Draft in the FBiH House of Representatives.
Speaking to N1, Ljubic commented on the recently discussed law, which raised tensions among Bosniaks and Croats in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), Bosnia's semi-autonomous entity shared by these two ethnic groups.
Ljubic, who represents Bosnian Croats in the Parliament of Croatia, said persisting on this solution could lead to “breakup of Bosnia and Herzegovina because I know this cannot be implemented in a peaceful way.
“When the Law is passed, we’ll see that nothing will happen. I'd really like to know what it is that Ljubic is threatening us with from the parliament of our neighboring country. Does that mean that Croatia is planning a new aggression on Bosnia and a violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement (which ended the war in Bosnia), because she doesn’t like a draft law in Bosnia,” Komsic asked. “If so, then Ljubic, Dragan Covic (HDZ BiH Leader) and their Zagreb company should stop crying and sending empty threatening, because Bosnia defended itself in 1993, and it will do so again.”
