President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Wednesday met with the Croat member of the tripartite Bosnia and Herzegovina presidency, Dragan Covic who informed her of the current situation in that country and its European prospects, the president's office said in a press release.

Despite the fact that the election law in Bosnia and Herzegovina has not been amended, ethnic Croats in that country will continue to insist on the respect for the constitutional principle of legitimate representation at all administrative-political levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Covic told Grabar-Kitarovic.

He added that the most important thing after the October general election in Bosnia was to preserve stability in the country so that a new government is formed quickly and without any obstacles.

Covic also told Grabar-Kitarovic about Bosnian presidency's initiative to organise a round table on the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030 sustainable development plan, to be also attended by heads of state of neighbouring countries – Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro – as signatories of the Agenda 2030. Bosnia and Herzegovina had joined Agenda 2030 in 2015.

President Grabar-Kitarovic offered Croatia's full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina's internal development and for its progress toward European Union membership, and to fully activate the Membership Action Plan (MAP).

A parliamentary election is scheduled in Bosnia and Herzegovina for October 7 and by midnight on Tuesday when the deadline to register in the electoral roll ended, more than 88,000 citizens living abroad registered to vote at the election, many of them currently living in Croatia, a spokeswoman from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Central Election Commission (CIK) Maksida Piric said on Wednesday.
