Former official arrested on corruption charges

Former Deputy Director of Bosnia's Service for Foreigners' Affairs, Izet Nizam, was arrested on Monday under a suspicion of corrupt activities, said the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the State Investigation and Protection Agency's (SIPA) officers arrested Nizam in Sarajevo on Monday and raided the facilities used by the suspect and his family.

The former official is suspected of illegally seizing the money, goods and services from foreigners and the persons who were undergoing a procedure related to their residence and related matters in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in return for arranging the final decisions in favour of these persons.

Nizam will be sent to the prosecutor in charge and the Prosecutor's Office will then decide on further steps in this case.
