CEC fines SNSD, Dodik for breach of election campaign rules

N1

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Central Election Commission (CEC) fined the Serb leader Milorad Dodik and his Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) for using the words that might incite violence or spreading the hatred, which breached the election campaign rules.

The Commission found the political entity SNSD was responsible because its candidate in Bosnia's general election, the party's leader Milorad Dodik, used the language which might have incited to the violence or the spreading of hatred in a speech on October 4 this year.

According to the Commission, this was a breach of the regulations in the election campaign so SNSD was fined with the amount of 7,000 Bosnian marks (approx. EUR 3,500) and its leader Dodik with 5,000 marks (approx. EUR 2,500)

Dodik, who is now outgoing President of Republika Srpska, Bosnia's semi-autonomous Serb-dominated entity, has won in the run for the post of the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, according to the latest election results.

SNSD was previously fined for Dodik's election campaign speech held on September 22 and his use of the language that might have incited the violence or spreading of hatred.
