SBB Leader: In spite of election results, we are satisfied

The Alliance for the Better Future (SBB) is not disappointed with the recent general election results, the SBB leader and former Bosnia Presidency candidate Fahrudin Radoncic told N1, even though they believe the results are a product of an alleged election fraud. He announced a lawsuit against the state election watchdog.

I am not disappointed, Radoncic said, even though this was an alleged election fraud. According to him, not only were votes allegedly stolen but over half a million ballots were deemed irregular.

“This was a brutal theft, but we’re used to it. However, the SBB remained a strong parliamentary party on all levels of government. The Democratic Action Party (SDA) counted their own voted and yet the Central Election Commission didn’t annul these results,” Radoncic told N1’s Zvonko Komsic.

The Bosniak nationalist Democratic Action Party (SDA) won the most votes in the country and in one of Bosnia's two semi-autonomous entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) making them the biggest winners of the general election in the country. Radoncic’s SBB was placed fourth, and in some regions even sixth according to the number of votes.

“I’m a very well accomplished person and I’m leading a major party and it doesn’t matter whether we’re the second, third or even fifth party. I’m afraid that instead of choosing a new Bosnia, we got a Frankenstein that will cost our citizens dearly,” added.

Fahrudin Radoncic, who established the highest selling daily paper in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Dnevni Avaz, also told N1’s Komsic that the SBB will wait until the Central Election Commission publishes the final, official election results and then they will file charges against the election watchdog.

Speaking about the election of Zeljko Komsic for the Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, Radoncic said it would not be right if Bosniaks were to speak about the legitimacy of the Croat representative in the Presidency, but that the only thing they could say is that he was elected legally. This is something Croats disagree with, he added.

All the Croat nationalist parties in the country contest Zeljko Komsic’s election, saying he was not elected by the Croat people, therefore his election is illegitimate. However, according to the state Election Law and the Constitution, Zeljko Komsic’s election was legal and constitutional.

Additionally, Bosnia's Constitution, which is the Annex 4 of the Dayton Peace Agreement which ended the war in Bosnia, stipulates that the Presidency will consist of three members, each coming from one of the three constituent peoples in the country, a Bosniak, a Croat and a Serb member.

The Constitution never mentions that Presidency members must be elected exclusively by members of each people, but only adds that the Serb member is elected by voters from the Serb dominated, Republika Srpska (RS) entity and that Bosniak and Croat members are elected by voters from the Bosniak and Croat dominated Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity.
