Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz has expressed the belief that the European Union will not be complete without the countries of the Western Balkans.

Speaking at the Montenegro 2018 conference, Kurtz said that “stability and security for the region and the EU can only be secured if the region is part of the EU”. As proof of his words, the Austrian chancellor cited the importance of the Western Balkans to the EU during the migrant crisis.

“The EU has a clear vision of peace and prosperity,” he said and added that integration only works through cooperation in politics and the economy. According to him, the Western Balkans are on the right path to achieving that goal.

The Montenegro 2018 conference in the coastal resort of Budva was organized by the Montenegro Chamber of Commerce.
