Bosnia to soon export wine and chicken to EU

Bosnia will soon be able to export wine and chicken products into the European Union, a Bosnian official said on Thursday after a meeting with the European Commission.

The results of the meetings are positive for Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations official, Dusan Neskovic.

“This year we had the opportunity to present the results of the work on the strategic plan of rural development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a unique document that is being put together on several levels and in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Neskovic said.

He explained that Bosnia has recently been allowed to use EU pre-accession financial assistance for the agriculture sector which, for the first time, includes grants for producers.

But Bosnia also faced obstacles regarding exports.

“One of them was the issue of wine export, where we had certain difficulties with Croatia, but we managed to solve them,” Neskovic said, adding that Bosnia is still working on those issues in order to avoid similar situations in the future.

Thursday’s meeting is part of Bosnia’s EU integration process.
