The Presidency of Kosovo’s Parliament has decided to debate the three laws on the transformation of the Security Forces into a military at a session on December 14, Speaker Kadri Veseli said on Monday.

“We will officially have an Army of Kosovo on December 14. That is the date when parliament will vote on the draft laws to transform the Security Forces into a military. Congratulations all,” Veseli wrote on his Facebook profile.

A majority of MPs are expected to vote for the draft laws on the Defence Ministry, On the Security Forces and on Service in the Security Forces with the Serb List MPs having said earlier they will not vote to adopt the laws which are opposed by Serbia while the international community is demanding changes to the constitution which is impossible because of Serb List opposition.

The process of transforming the Security Forces into a military is expected to take at least 10 years.

The Serb List said in a press release that the announced forming of the Kosovo military is part of continuing provocations which that party condemns and demands a sharp response from the international community.
