Kosovo President Hashim Thaci posted a letter which he said he had received from US President Donald Trump, urging officials in Pristina to seize the opportunity to reach a comprehensive agreement with Belgrade.

Thaci wrote on his Facebook profile that Kosovo enjoys the unwavering support of the United States and the American people, adding that it cannot achieve its goals of NATO, European Union and UN membership are impossible without the continued support of the international community.

“In his letter, President Trump calls for me and the leaders of Kosovo, to exploit this unique moment to speak with one voice, in order to reach a comprehensive agreement with Serbia,” he wrote.

The letter that Thaci posted says that Kosovo is a critical partner in US efforts to guarantee the peace and stability of Europe and welcomes reconciliation efforts with Serbia.

In the letter, President Trump warned that failure to capitalize on this unique opportunity, would be a tragic setback, as another chance for a comprehensive peace is unlikely to occur again soon and urged leaders of Kosovo to seize this unique moment, speak with a unified voice during the peace talks, and refrain from actions that would make an agreement more difficult to achieve.

Trump expressed readiness to assist in the efforts to reach an agreement that balances the interests of both Kosovo and Serbia which he believes is within reach. “I look forward to hosting you and President Aleksandar Vucic at the White House to celebrate what would be a historic accord,” the letter posted on Hashim Thaci’s Facebook profile said.
