A Serbian national was among the passengers of the Ethiopian Airlines jet which crashed soon after take-off from Adis Abeba, killing all on board, the company confirmed on Sunday.

Ethiopian media reported that none of 149 passengers and eight crew members survived the incident on the flight to Nairobi, Kenya.

Serbian daily Blic unofficially learned that Serbian national on board was 54-year-old Djordje Vidovic, who was a UN employee. With his Serbia’s passport, Vidovic also had a UN travel document, according to Blic.

His sister confirmed he was in the crashed jet.

Sweden-based air traffic monitor Flightradar24 said that the Ethiopian Airlines plane’s “vertical speed was unstable after take-off.”

The jet crashed at a size near the town of Bishoftu, about 50 kilometres from the capital.
