Serbian President criticizes US embassy over O2 TV tweet

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday that they US Embassy in Belgrade should have nothing to do with the choice of guest on local TV stations.

The US Embassy wrote on its Twitter acount that it was confused about why Serbian media continue to host a man who threatened prominent journalists and made false accusations. The tweet came after an appearance on O2 TV by Bogoljub Pjescic who made threats against N1 TV News Director Jugoslav Cosic and Beta news agency editor in chief Dragan Janjic.  

Asked about the tweet by an O2 TV reporter, Vucic said that this has nothing to do with the US embassy. “Why are they meddling in anything? It seems they like to have a finger in every pie,” he told Wednesday’s news conference.  

Serbian journalists’ organizations condemned the decision to invited Bogoljub Pjescic to O2’s Fokus show.
