LGBTIQ activists organising the first Bosnia's Pride Parade in Bosnian capital condemned a verbal attack on their team member, which they said happened in central Sarajevo street last week, and asked the police to react promptly.

“This is yet another in series of homophobic attacks on LGBTIQ persons, which happened in Sarajevo centre,” the organisers said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, activist Nera Mesinovic and her partner “encountered a homophobic attack in Sarajevo centre on Friday, April 26.”

“The girls were attacked while walking down Titova street. The attacker started running towards the girls when he noticed them, threatened and addressed them with homophobic insults. Although the attacker threatened with physical violence, none of the girls was physically injured,” said the activists, who reported the incident to the police.

They strongly condemned the incident and urged the police and the prosecution of Sarajevo Canton to launch an investigation into what the activists said was a criminal act triggered by hate. They want competent bodies to process and bring to justice the responsible person.
