Numerous locals and tourists have flocked to the river Neretva in Mostar to escape the scorching heat on Monday.

While there is barely anyone walking the streets of the southern city, the shores of the Neretva river in the old town centre are full of locals and tourists.

Many have also gathered in the courtyard of the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque to drink water and wash their faces at the shadirvan – an Ottoman-style fountain.

According to a thermometer at theshadirvan, the temperatures at about 14 o’clock were above 41 degrees centigrade in the shade, the Anadolu Agency reported.
