A Bosnian bakery became famous in Toronto, Canada, after they started making a Bosnian Somun flatbread, where residents and tourists can not get enough of it, Anadolu Agency reported on Monday.

“When it comes to food, there's nothing more personal to Bosnians, especially Sarajevans, than the Somun, Alen Zukanovic, the owner of the Somun Superstar bakery, said.

After opening the bakery with his wife Sanja, he said they decided to bring the taste of Bosnia to Toronto, stressing they try to make all the Bosnian delicacies in the traditional way as much as possible.

People from the former Yugoslavia make up a significant portion of Toronto's residents and many of them make flatbreads, but few prepare them in the traditional way.

“The difference is that Somun is always baked in wood-fired ovens. It's softer and one can smell a dash of smoke on the bread,” Sanja, Alen's wife, said.

Their flatbreads can also be fount in the Courage Foods, a famous Toronto delicacy store.

“We never have enough of their flatbreads. This type of bread is hard to come by in Toronto. They sell very fast,” Karen O'Brien, the owner of the Courage Food said.

Canadians are particularly keen on this flatbread as it can be eaten at any meal and can be combined with a variety of foods.
