The leading Bosnian Croat part, the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) is expected to meet with the strongest Bosniak party, the Democratic Action Party (SDA), next week when they will talk about many burning issues in the country, the HDZ BiH leader Dragan Covic told Vecernji list daily on Tuesday.

He said that talks with the SDA are extremely important for all the processes in the country, for the relations between Bosniaks and Croats and for the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“It's especially important for the relations in the Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity,” he stressed.

He noted that his party invests great efforts in raising the political relations to the level of political friendship which requires a third partner, as well.

The key is to look for solutions which would provide for a greater level of trust between peoples because only that would bring solutions to key issues and result in long-term stability.

Following the October 2018 general election, representatives of three major ethnic oriented parties, the SDA, HDZ BIH and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats from the Serb dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity were unable to form the State-level government due to differences in opinion as to what the country should focus on in the future.

The situation is even more pronounced in the Bosniak-Croat shared FBiH entity where the lack of agreement between the Bosniak and Croat parties is preventing some major reforms needed for Bosnia's EU accession process and the well being of FBiH residents.
