State police arrested former Bosnian Serb Army commander Miladin Trifunovic on Wednesday after prosecutors accused him of committing war crimes against Bosniak victims in 1992 in the central municipalities of Vogosca and Ilijas, Bosnia’s Prosecutor’s Office said.

Trifunovic is suspected of being responsible for the murders and torture of a large number of Bosniak victims who were imprisoned in a building named ‘Planjina Kuca’ in Svrake, near Sarajevo.

The victims were allegedly used as human shields and forced labour on the battlefield, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people and grave injuries to numerous others.
