Suspects in alleged football match fixing affair released pending trial

All 12 suspects arrested on Monday as part of a crackdown on an alleged football match-fixing affair on Monday have been released and will not be placed in pre-trial detention, N1 confirmed on Wednesday.

The suspects – football managers, Football Association officials and referees – were allegedly involved in fixing football matches in the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The investigation found that the suspects repeatedly requested and received certain sums of money to influence a favourable result for a particular football club,” the Prosecutor's Office said.
