The European Union Council adopted on Tuesday a set of conclusions contained in the European Commission’s Opinion on Bosnia’s EU membership application which was issued on May 29 this year and provided a roadmap for reforms the country should undertake in its efforts toward EU integration.

“In its conclusions, the Council welcomes the Commission's Opinion and urges executive and legislative bodies at all levels of government to start addressing the key priorities identified in the opinion, in line with the legitimate aspirations of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to advance towards the European Union,” a EU Council Press Release said.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina does not yet sufficiently fulfil the criteria related to the stability of institutions guaranteeing democracy, the rule of law, human rights and respect for and protection of minorities, set by the Copenhagen European Council in 1993. In this respect, the country needs to dedicate considerable efforts to sufficiently fulfil such criteria," the Commission wrote in its Opinion after receiving Bosnia’s answers to their Questionnaire.
