Radovan Viskovic, the Prime Minister of the Bosnian Serb entity Republika Srpska (RS), said they will offer full support to the Serbs and Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro, within the full extent of the law, and allow them to legally protect their property.

“The RS can't interfere in Montenegro's internal affairs but as Orthodox, people and Serbs we must support our Church and people living there,” Viskovic told journalists in Banja Luka on the occasion of Montenegro's adoption of the Law on Religious Freedoms.

He said he did not know “why Montenegro opted for such a legal solution, despite the opposition from many religious factors, among which was the Vatican.”

The RS Prime Minister believes that “all the protection mechanisms for religious facilities belonging to the Serbian Orthodox Church will surely be used.”

“No one can take away the Ostrog Monastery, for example. Everyone knows whose property is that – the property of the Serbian Orthodox Church and it will stay that way,” Viskovic noted.

The RS Prime Minister also added that the RS government wants to have fair relations with all religious communities because that is what builds coexistence and cooperation which the citizens need.
