Zoran Zaev, North Macedonia's Prime Minister, has resigned on Friday making way to forming a technical government during the day, the Beta news agency reported.

Zaev's resignation is a part of preparations for an early election due on April 12 which are called after the European Union didn't give the green light to Skopje for setting a date for opening the accession negotiations with the bloc.

“The Government is at work since 8:30 am, I signed the resignation in line with an agreement on elections and the Law on Government. I believe the Parliament will soon start the procedure of electing a technical Government,” Zaev said.

The technical Government is formed 100 days ahead of elections, and the opposition has interior and labour ministers and deputy ministries of finance, agriculture and administration.
