The acting district prosecutor from Banja Luka asked for thirty-day detention for Darko Golic, the head of Banja Luka's Anesthesiology Clinic, on suspicion that he sexually molested a 36-year-old coma patient, the Prosecution said on Wednesday.

The 60-year-old Golic who is a renown anaesthesiologist in the region is facing charges of sexually molesting a patient who has been in a coma for the past 50 days.

After he was apprehended, doctor Golic remained silent before the prosecutor as a sign of protest. His attorney Jevto Jankovic said he was performing the doctor's duty and that he only saved the patient by waking him up from coma after 52 days laying in bed.

Jankovic added that Golic is a man with 35 years of experience without a single spec on his career:

“He expected gratitude because he saved the young man's life. After 52 days of being in a coma state, Darko Golic saved this man's life and instead of greatest gratitude – he gets this. As a man and then as an attorney, I am horrified by the doctors who became smart and experts thanks to political parties,” Jankovic said. “We believe in material evidence which doesn't lie. He said ‘do what you want, I did it according to the medical ethics, I saved a life.'”

The attorney added that everyone will be shocked when they find out the truth.

Several employees of the Banja Luka hospital also testified against Golic, on Tuesday.

According to local media outlets, several nurses allegedly saw Golic molesting the patient after which they notified the hospital management on Monday afternoon, who then called the police.
