The Russian Union of Journalists on Monday expressed its support for N1 and called for an end to the pressure on the cable news channel.

“The Russian Union of Journalists stands in solidarity with professional community opinion that the state-owned cable operators’ decision to drop N1 is an attempt to silence a critical voice in Serbia,” the organization said on its Twitter profile.

“We call for a stop to the constant pressure on Serbian channel N1 TV,” it added.

The non-profit Russian Union of Journalists is the largest professional organization of journalists in Russia, with more than 70,000 members.
