Slovenia reports four new cases of coronavirus infection

Four new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Slovenia on Saturday, bringing the total number to 12, a press conference was told in Ljubljana.

A total of 785 persons have been tested by 2 pm today, and four new cases of infection have been confirmed today, bringing the total number of positive cases to 12, the Director of the National Institute of Public Health, Nina Pirnat, said.

“Epidemiologists are working round the clock and the investigation into the case of the infected doctor from Metlika is continuing,” she said, adding that six medical workers who had been in contact with the doctor had been tested and all the results were negative.

Speaking of the four latest cases, she said that one is a Slovenian man who spent time in Italy, the second is a medical worker in Metlika who was in contact with the infected doctor, the third is a man who returned from Austria, and the fourth is a man who travelled with his family to Spain via Italy.

Slovenian health authorities have recommended cancelling all large gatherings and events in the country. The proposal will be discussed by the National Security Council on Monday.
