China has opened a commercial channel for Bosnia to buy medical equipment and it will continue to assist it in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Chinese President Xi Jinping wrote, responding to Bosniak Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic's earlier letter.

“Allow me express my deepest sympathy for the authorities and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people,” Xi wrote. “Currently, the pandemic is spreading all over the world while the number of newly confirmed cases of infection in Bosnia is continuously rising.”

Thanking Dzaferovic for the positive assessment of China's efforts and cooperation with the international community in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Xi said the Chinese side has already made a donation in medical equipment to Bosnia.

“China has opened an appropriate commercial channel for Bosnia to acquire medical means, and we are ready to continue helping Bosnia, within our capacity, and to exchange experiences and practices on prevention, control and diagnosis as well as on the treatment (of the disease),” he wrote, adding that China strongly supports efforts of Bosnia's authorities and peoples in combating the epidemic.

He added that humanity is facing public health security challenges together and that the Chinese side is ready to strengthen the cooperation in the fight against this epidemic with all countries, including Bosnia while adhering to the concept of a common future for humanity.

Xi recalled that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bosnia and expressed confidence that the traditional friendship between the two countries will be deepened through cooperation in the fight against the epidemic.
