A cargo plane from China carrying medical supplies for the healthcare sector in Bosnia's Serb-dominated region, Republika Srpska (RS), amid coronavirus pandemic, landed at Banja Luka airport Wednesday evening.

RS top officials were at the airport to welcome the plane.

“There is over 55 tonnes of equipment here, which means we have enough of medical supplies for several next months in RS. From now on, RS won't depend on anyone for any segment of medical equipment. Although we paid for it, I would like to thank China, its President, and Chinese ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina for making it possible for the equipment to be sent to Banja Luka from China,” said RS Prime Minister, Radovan Viskovic.

A day later, Banja Luka authorities also expect aid from Hungary, according to Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, Milorad Dodik.

Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, is set to arrive in Sarajevo, where he will deliver the aid of his country and meet his Bosnian counterpart, FM Bisera Turkovic.
