Prosecutors and state police have raided the premises of the government of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) region on Wednesday, looking for documentation related to the controversial procurement of 100 Chinese ventilators.

The deal in which the FBiH Government awarded 10,5 million Bosnian marks (about 5.3 million Euros) to a company that runs a raspberry farm in the eastern town of Srebrenica to purchase 100 ventilators from China became subject of an investigation after it sparked outrage in Bosnia end of April.

The former chief of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration, who was involved in the procurement procedure, was suspended on Tuesday.

The Prosecutor’s Office said that experts found that the ventilators did not meet the minimum criteria necessary for treating Covid-19 patients.
