Bosnia sees surge in new coronavirus infections, with 93 cases recorded in a day

Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded one of the largest daily increases in new coronavirus cases since the epidemic outbreak, with 60 new patients in Republika Srpska (RS) and 33 in the Federation (FBiH), the healthcare authorities of the two semi-autonomous regions confirmed on Monday.

According to the official statistics, the country's coronavirus total now stands at 3,519, with 2,270 Covid-19 patients who have recovered to date and 170 fatalities.

The FBiH healthcare authorities have performed 543 coronavirus tests over the last 24 hours and 33 new patients were recorded in Tuzla Canton (17), Sarajevo Canton (15) and Una-Sana Canton (1).

So far, 1,594 patients were infected with the novel coronavirus in the region, with 996 of those who recovered and 46 deaths.

As for RS, its healthcare authorities have performed 376 lab tests in the last 24 hours and 60 new patients were reported in 19 towns across its territory.

The total of 1,905 patients has been confirmed in RS with 1,258 of those who have recovered and 120 fatalities.

Brcko District, a separate administrative unit in the north, has seen 20 confirmed Covid-19 patients, of which 16 recovered and four died.
