After confirming ten new cases, Montenegro’s health authorities said there were a hundred patients with the coronavirus infection, and all were said to have contracted the virus from their contacts, the Beta news agency reported on Friday.

 Ten infections were confirmed in the coastal town of Budva,the spot of bitter confrontation of the former and new local authorities.

The National Coordinating Body for Contagious Diseases condemned 60 doctors from the northern town of Niksic for taking part in the Serbia Orthodox Church (SPS) organised processions which violated the ban on gathering more than 200 people in public places.

The doctors’ behaviour was inappropriate, a severe violation of the profession, ethic code and the Hippocratic oath, Montenegro’s government said in a statement.

The doctors from the northern town of Berane expressed public support of Niksic colleagues.  

Montenegro, the tiny coastal republic in the Western Balkans was the last European state to declare the epidemic on March 17. On June 2, Podgorica said the outbreak was over.
