The second Bosnian pride event will be held on August 23 in Sarajevo under the slogan 'Life is not just the four walls,' the pride organising board said Monday adding that the march is a protest against inequality and a fight for a better position of the LGBTI community within the Bosnian society.

“Using the right of free assembly guaranteed to us by the Constitution, we ate taking to the streets because our lives can't want any longer and suffer the tardiness of systemic change,” the board said.

According to them, the country still does not have a single public space where the LGBTI community could gather freely.

“The homophobia we face every time we go to public institutions, cafes, restaurants, theatres, cinemas or any other public area condemns us to a life between our four walls, on the margins of the society,“ the board said.

Therefore, they added, this year's pride will be held under the slogan “Life is not just the four walls.”

The Bosnian pride march is a reaction of the LGBTI community to the difficult economic and social status which additionally worsened by the current pandemic, unemployment, corruption, departure of youth from the country, water and air pollution, the selective rule of law, nationalism, fascism and racism as well as countless other problems that affect the community's daily lives, the board added and concluded:

“See you on August 23 un Sarajevo because life is not just the four walls.”
