Foreign Ministry: Serbia rejects medical aid offer from Bosnia

Serbia thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for the offer to send medical workers to the southwestern Sandzak region and said such help was not necessary at the moment, Bosnia's Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed to N1 on Wednesday.

Bosnia has officially offered the assistance after the information that the General Hospital in Novi Pazar, Sandzak's largest town, is coping with a sudden increase in the number of coronavirus infections.

“Serbia thanks for the assistance offered by the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is informing them that the healthcare system capacities of the Republic of Serbia, including the General Hospital in Novi Pazar, fully meet the needs of the patients, which includes sufficient quantity of medical equipment and the sufficient number of healthcare workers,” said the official note that the Foreign Ministry of Serbia sent to Bosnian Foreign Ministry.

In the meantime, the Red Cross of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) region said on Wednesday that it has formed a team of two doctors and six nurses which is prepared to travel to the Serbian city of Novi Pazar to help it tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
