New coronavirus cases surge in Bosnia as mass testing continues

Bosnia has seen a new surge in daily coronavirus infections with 244 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, 123 in the Federation (FBiH) and 121 in Republika Srpska (RS), the healthcare authorities of the two regions confirmed on Wednesday.

Over 1,500 lab tests were performed in both parts of the country since the last update – 1,053 in the FBiH and 533 in RS

According to the healthcare institutions in the two regions, coronavirus total in the FBiH is now 3,014 and RS has confirmed 2,813 cases. To date, more than 1,700 Covid-19 patients have recovered – 1,292 in the FBiH and 1,425 in RS.

Brcko District, a separate administrative unit in the north, has reported 41 Covid-19 patients to date of which 20 have recovered and five died.

According to the Civil Affairs Ministry's official statistics, the country's coronavirus total stands at 5,869 and 2,769 patients have recovered. With one new fatality reported in the last 24 hours, the country's death toll has increased to 209.
