Montenegro: Spike in numbers of coronavirus infections and deaths

Three more people died from COVID-19 in Montenegro in the last 24 hours, and 96 were tested positive for coronavirus, the Institute for Public Health in Podgorica said on Friday.

The death toll since mid-June stood at 33.

A total number of active cases was 1,979 on Friday, while 186 were hospitalised.

Nemanja Radojevic, a doctor from Montenegro Clinical Center, said that 13 patients were in serious condition, one of whom was on a ventilator, and four on “non-invasive oxygen support.”

He added that 17 doctors, 52 nurses and nine non-medical staff were positive for the novel virus.

Podgorica declared the epidemic last Tuesday for the second time after reported its end on June 2.
