Bosnia and Serbia held a signing ceremony for agreements on the construction of a joint border crossing and on joint maintenance and reconstruction of bridges between the two countries, next to the Bratoljub bridge in east Bosnia on Friday. The agreements were signed by Bosnia's Traffic and Communication Minister Vojin Mitrovic and Serbian Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.

“This is an important agreement because it envisages the maintenance of 11 bridges between Serbia and Bosnia. Serbia has accepted the maintenance of six bridges on the Drina River, while Bosnia has accepted the maintenance of five bridges, two on the Sava, three on the Uvac River,” Mitrovic said.

Mitrovic thanked the government of Serbia and especially President Aleksandar Vucic on the construction of bridge Bratoljub.

Zorana Mihajlovic said that the works should be finished by March when the bridge and the border crossing should be in function.

“Regional connection is the most important way and condition for the development of our countries. That is the policy of the Government of Serbia and President Vucic. We will reconstruct 11 bridges together, and five Serbia alone. Project documentation has been completed, money's been provided in the budget, which is €15 million for the next three years,” she said.

The Serbian Minister added that bridges connect the two countries and she is working on establishing the Sarajevo-Belgrade rail line.
