Bosnia’s candidate for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film is ‘Quo Vadis, Aida?’, the latest film by Bosnian director and screenwriter Jasmila Zbanic.

Quo Vadis, Aida? had its world premiere in the competition program of the Venice Film Festival, was then screened at the Toronto Film Festival and is soon to be distributed to cinemas across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The plot revolves around Aida, a translator working for the UN in the protected safe zone of Srebrenica on the eve of the July 1995 genocide.

The Association of Film Workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been nominating films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film for 20 years.

The film ‘No man’s land’, by Bosnian filmmaker Danis Tanovic, won the Oscar in 2002.
