The first ventilator produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina has passed preliminary quality testing but due to a series of procedures for such a complex device to be released, it is realistic to expect it to be available in about two years, biomedical engineering expert Almir Badnjevic told N1 on Thursday.
Badnjevic said he saw the devices, which were produced by TMD Gradacac company, last week.

“We performed preliminary tests, we measured whether their default values are identical to what is set at the output. The parameters did not have any major deviations, they are within the legally allowed specifications at the international standard,” Badnjevic said.
“I am positively surprised and I am glad that something like that was done in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he said.
The machine will now be sent to Great Britain where it will be tested for the company to receive the accreditation. Badnjevic said that it is unrealistic to expect that such a device could be available while the pandemic is ongoing.
“It is a very complex and dangerous device that must pass a couple of years of testing in order to be used on patients,” he said, adding that ideally, everything could be complete within one year but estimated that two years is a more realistic estimate.
