Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka gave Prince Albert II of Monaco the Key of Sarajevo during a ceremony at the City Hall (Vijecnica) on Friday.

“The city of Sarajevo continues its activities regarding international cooperation. We have actively worked to reposition the city of Sarajevo to where it belongs. We have invested a lot of energy and time to improve the city's image internationally and to continue developing relations with our twin cities. Unfortunately, there was not enough energy when it comes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before, so Sarajevo took over that role. With the arrival of Minister Turkovic, we gained strong support from the Ministry,” Skaka said.

The Mayor stressed he was honoured to award this recognition to Prince Albert II of Monaco, adding that he believes “the good relations between the two states and the two cities will continue to prosper in the time ahead.”

I am honoured to receive the Key of the city of Sarajevo in this symbolic place, I am honoured by this gesture. I wish I could spend more days here, but I know I will return to Sarajevo and I hope that then we will celebrate your achievements,” said the Prince.
