Bosnia's public health authorities confirmed 432 new cases of the coronavirus infection on Saturday.

More than 2,000 lab tests have been performed since Friday in the country, with 299 new Covid-19 patients confirmed in the Federation (FBiH) entity, 129 in Republika Srpska (RS) entity and four in Brcko District.

Individually, the main hotspots of the disease are big cities, with Sarajevo having reported 58 new cases and Banja Luka 39.

The number of new infections is by around 40 cases higher than on Friday but is still lower than the number reported on October 8, when a record high 453 cases were reported, the largest daily figure since the outbreak of the epidemic in March.

Just as other European countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina, too, saw a surge in daily figures at the end of the week but local health authorities say the situation is under control as the incidence is still below 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Currently, there are slightly more than 6,000 active cases of the disease in the country.

Since the onset of the epidemic around 279,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 and infection has been confirmed in slightly more than 30,000.

So far 927 people have died from complications caused by the coronavirus infection.
