Bosnian-born Portland Trail Blazers player Jusuf Nurkic posted on social media on Friday that he wants to play for Bosnia’s national basketball team in the upcoming qualification round and that his club has no problem with it.

“Given that some media reported that me playing for the national team in the upcoming qualifying round is questionable, due to alleged resistance from my club, I must say that more than a month ago I informed the people of KSBiH (Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) that I want to play and that my club Portland Trail Blazers has no issue with that,” Nurkic wrote.

“The approval of my club, Portland Trail Blazers, was never an issue, because our trust is based on the mutual respect and unconditional support from the club that I gained with my work and top games that ranked me among the best centers in the strongest basketball league in the world,” he added.

Bosnia’s male and female basketball teams will play the final qualification tournament for Eurobasket in November.
