The Croatian Medical Chamber (HLK) on Saturday published an appeal to retired doctors to engage themselves in the work of health institutions if they are willing to make their experience available to patients and the healthcare system in these difficult times.

The chamber says that following a surge in the new COVID-19 cases and due to “marked deterioration of the epidemiological situation”, Health Minister Vili Beros asked the HLK to inform the ministry about the data on retired physicians willing to engage themselves in the work of healthcare institutions during the epidemic.

The press release says that the number of hospitalised patients is rising at an accelerated rate and that more and more healthcare professionals are COVID positive or are self-isolating.

All the retired physicians ready to be re-engaged can contact the chamber.

Minister Beros said today that the activation of a broader range of healthcare professionals who can help the system was being considered.
