Bosnian professor Hasan Muratovic dies of Covid-19, at the age of 80

Hasan Muratovic, a Bosnian long-time professor, academic and politician, has died in Sarajevo on Friday, as a result of Covid-19, N1 learned Saturday.

Hasan Muratovic was born on April 11, 1940, in Cude near Olovo. He was a minister in governments during and after the war in Bosnia, an ambassador to Croatia, a member and vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Muratovic was Rector and Professor ¸at Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo, a long-time consultant to the Institute of Management and Economics in Sarajevo, director of the Institute for Research and Development UPI in Sarajevo and president of the consulting firm Deloitte for Bosnia.

He won a number of recognitions and awards, including the Order of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with a silver wreath (1998), the Sixth of April Award of the City of Sarajevo (1990) and the Order of the Prince Trpimir of the Republic of Croatia (2002).
