Sharp decline in the number of tourist visits to Bosnia

A total of 43,751 tourists visited Bosnia in October 2020, which is 73.7 percent less than in the same month last year, and 20.7 percent less than in September this year, State Statistics Agency said Thursday.

Tourists made 103,465 overnight stays in October, which is 68.3 per cent less than in October last year, and 26.7 percent less than in September, the Agency said, adding that of the total number of overnight domestic tourists accounted for 68.7 percent while foreign tourists made only 31.3 percent of overnight stays.

The number of overnight stays made by domestic tourists had decreased by 17.8 percent in October compared to the same month last year, and by 33.3 percent compared to September, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists decreased by 86.5 percent compared to October 2019, and by 6.6 percent compared to September this year.

Most foreign overnight stays in October 2020, were made by tourists from Serbia 25.7 percent, followed by tourists from the United Arab Emirates 18 percent, Croatia 17 percent, Turkey and Kuwait with 4.4 percent, while tourists from other countries realized a total of 30.4 percent of overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists, Japanese tourists came in first with an average stay of 29 nights, followed by Malaysians with 11.4 nights, Iranians 10.3 nights, Fins with 5.2 nights and Hungarians and Polish tourists with 5.1 nights.
