Bosnia opens honorary consulate of in Salzburg

The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Austria Tomislav Leko and the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Province of Salzburg, Markus Friesacher, opened Bosnia’s Honorary Consulate in Salzburg on July 3.

Salzburg Governor Wilfried Haslauer, Salzburg City Mayor Harald Preuner, as well as other senior officials from the province and the city of Salzburg, representatives of the diplomatic corps and entrepreneurs of the Salzburg region attended the opening.

During his address, Ambassador Leko mentioned the traditionally good relations between Bosnia and the Republic of Austria and a common rich history that is the basis of the positive effects of today's relations between the two countries.

He pointed out that the Republic of Austria is one of key advocates of Bosnia's accession to the EU, and that it is the biggest investor in the country, which is of immense importance for Bosnia’s economy.

In his address, Friesacher noted that the goal of his work is to better connect and strengthen the cooperation between the two countries and that he will use all his available political and economic contacts to achieve this goal.
