UNICEF and ‘Save the Children’ are putting together an assessment of the education status of migrant children who arrived in Bosnia so that their needs can be determined and a plan for their integration into the education system can be put together.

The assessment is being conducted at six locations in Bosnia where migrants are staying.

Canton Sarajevo Education Minister, Elvir Kazazovic, met with UNICEF representative Sanja Kabil and Save the Children representative Fatima Smajlovic to discuss initiative on Wednesday.

Work on the assessment began on Monday, August 13, and it is expected to be concluded beginning of September.

“We planned to present Minister Kazazovic and KS Prime Minister Adem Zolj with all the results and suggestions (from the assessment),” Kabil said.

“The Government of Kanton Sarajevo is, through the KS Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, supporting our activities, as every child, wherever and in whatever social conditions it may be, has a right to education,” Kazazovic said.
