Stability and peace in the region are of utmost importance to the citizens who live in these countries, the city mayors of Sarajevo, Belgrade and Zagreb said after the meeting they held on Friday in the Bosnia's capital city.

The first trilateral meeting of the three city mayors discussed the possibilities of creating joint tourism offers as well as the role of the capital cities in the process of building up the permanent peace, reconciliation and cooperation in the region.

The host of the meeting, Sarajevo Mayor, Abdulah Skaka, said the talks focused on the connectivity of the three capital cities.

“Stability of these cities is a precondition for the stability of our countries which we represent and I am certainly very glad to host my colleagues. During the meeting today we touched upon the route of tourists which we will create together with our tourism communities, in order to connect our capital cities,” Skaka said.

Sarajevo mayor announced the meetings will continue in the following years.

“We also talked about peace which is a precondition to everything I spoke about, and I think we will be promoters of this idea,” Skaka added announcing another meeting of mayors in Belgrade at the end of the year when they would make some specific plans.

Belgrade Mayor, Zoran Radojicic, pointed out the importance of the meeting and cooperation between the cities.

“We also agreed that all the sectors we have mentioned such as tourism, culture, economy, sports are equally important to all of us,” Radojicic said.

He conveyed a message that “the stability and peace in the region are of utmost importance to all of us.”

People in Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia expect more cooperation, Zagreb Mayor, Milan Bandic, said following the meeting. “This is our task. The time has come for Zagreb and Belgrade to do something specific and to sign it. That's what people in Serbia and Croatia want. We need to do that, let it make our mission,” Bandic said.

Mayors of Zagreb and Belgrade were invited to attend the European Youth Olympic Festival EYOF 2019, which will be held in Sarajevo the coming winter.
