US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that he intends to nominate Eric George Nelson as “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina,” a White House press release said.

Nelson is serving as Deputy Executive Secretary and Director of the Executive Office of the Executive Secretariat to the Office of the Secretary of State since 2015.

He has been a US diplomat since 1990, and has served in seven US missions overseas, including as Deputy Chief of Mission and Principal Officer, the White House said.

He began his public service career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia.

Nelson speaks Spanish, German and Italian.
