Bosnia's general election taking place in October 2018 will cost 8.5 million Bosnian marks (approx. EUR 4.3 million), the Central Election Commission (CEC) member, Stjepan Mikic told the media on Thursday.

Speaking ahead of the official start of the election campaign, September 7, Mikic called on all political parties and candidates to refrain from the words that lead to tensions, in order to carry the elections out in a fair and democratic environment.

Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will cast their votes on October 7 and elect three members of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, entity presidents and vice presidents as well as the members of the state, entity and cantonal parliaments.

The exact number of polling stations will be known on September 22.

According to Mikic, the Commission could fine the candidates who breach the provisions of the Election Law with an amount of up to EUR 5,000, depending on the offence, remove them from the list of candidates or annul the list verification.
