The Office of the Hugh Representative (OHR) welcomed the unanimous adoption of amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the state House of Peoples (HoP), and called upon the House of Representatives (HoR) to do the same.

“Considering the attempts and goodwill invested in this process from all sides, we consider the adoption of amendments an important contribution to the support of the rule of law and the fight against corruption,” OHR’s spokesperson Mario Brkic said.

The OHR assessed this move as positive and called on members of parliament in the state House of Representatives to schedule an urgent session and adopt the said amendments without delay.

Bosnia’s House of People’s unanimously adopted a set of amendments to the CPC which had to be amended based on the Constitutional Court’s decision which found some sections of the Law unconstitutional.

Amendments to the Law were also necessary in order to preserve the integrity of Bosnia’s justice system in the fight against organised crime and corruption.

The House of Peoples also adopted a conclusion stipulating that Bosnia’s House of Representatives should urgently adopt the said amendments.
